After teasing for a couple of weeks, Today HMD Global has added new handset in its Nokia X series and named as Nokia X5. They’ve done this smartphone launch through a live streaming event in China. Earlier the company had planned to launch this device on July 11, but due to some technical issues they were cancelled this event. Compared to Nokia X6, they’ve downgraded some hardware features in Nokia X5, but maintained the notch design.
Nokia X5 features 5.86-inch HD+ (720 x 1520) display with top notch design, 19:9 aspect ratio, both front and back part are covered by 2.5D curved glass. It powered by Mediatek Helio P60 (A.I chipset) and octa core clocked at 2 GHz. It will be pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo OS, later this handset can be upgradeable to Android P. It arrives in two variants one with 3GB + 32GB and another one is 4GB + 64GB.
At back it houses dual main camera lens 13MP + 5MP and at front it has 8MP camera to shot perfect selfies. Stepping down to back camera, they’ve placed the fingerprint key and also has front mounted face unlock feature. Other preloaded features are WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, Dual 4G VoLTE, Type-C USB, 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS and more. It comes with 3060 mAh non-removable battery and it can deliver extended usage time with AI power saving technology. It will be available in three optional colors black, blue and white.
Talking about pricing, Nokia X5 with 3GB + 32GB storage variant will launch for 999 yuan (Rs. 10,200) while the 4GB + 64GB model priced at 1399 yuan (Rs. 14,300). Starting from July 19 (i.e. tomorrow), this handset will up for preorder at major Chinese retailers like JD.com, Lynx, Suning and also at Nokia official store. Nokia will reveal the exact release date of Nokia X5 handset on tomorrow only.
We can also expect the Nokia X5 will also arrive to global markets as Nokia 5.1 Plus or Nokia 5 Plus. On July 19, Nokia has scheduled an event in Spain to unveil the global variant of Nokia X6 as Nokia 6.1 Plus.
